Peaks & Valleys are a product of this type of work ethic: Typically las Vegas real estate agents spend their time and money marketing, marketing, marketing until they find a few clients. Because the Agent now has three months worth of bills to catch up on all of the attention turns to the clients. The marketing suffers while you move the client closer to the close. The reason the marketing suffers is because at this stage there is a lot more administrative stuff (paper work & phone calls) and sales stuff that needs your attention in order to get to the close. One person has only so much time and energy to accomplish what is necessary to close a deal. So what happens now is the clients get to close and the agent is now at the top of the roller coaster and see the dip in the track just inches in front of them because their pipe line has cleared up.
